Annaghdowngaa

Annaghdown lost out to Moycullen yesterday afternoon, at Pearse Stadium, in the quarter final of the intermediate hurling championship  on a 3-18 to 1-17 scoreline. Little separated the sides in the early stages before two Moycullen goals through Eanna Noone and Niall Mannion saw the winners lead by 2-11 to 0-10 at half time. Niall Kinneen scored six points in the first half for Annaghdown with Adam Heneghan, Diarmuid Kilcommins, Matthias Coleman and Damien Comer also pointing in the opening period for the Kevin Howley managed Annaghdown side.                                     Diarmuid Kilcommins and Adam Heneghan pointed early in the second half for Annaghdown but by the three quarter stage Moycullen had surged into a 3-15 to 0-12 lead with their goal coming from Fionn McDonagh.      Annaghdown, though, responded with Niall Kinneen scoring an unanswered 1-3 with his goal coming after a flowing Annaghdown move involving Peter Healion and Matthias Coleman. Diarmuid Kilcommins and the aforementioned Kinneen added additional Annaghdown points with only four points now separating the sides at 3-15 to 1-17. However, Moycullen scored the last three points to record the victory. While it was disappointing to lose today the team have given some great performances this year and can be proud of their achievements.                    Team: Shane Collier, Ronan Newell ( captain), Jason Walsh, Martin O' Neill, Peter Healion, Ciaran Potter, Enda Mullarkey, Cormac Horan, Cian O'Toole, Diarmuid Kilcommins (0-3), Damien Comer (0-1), Niall Coleman, Adam Heneghan (0-2), Niall Kinneen (1-10, 0-8 frees, 0-1 sixty five), Matthias Coleman ( 0-1).                 Subs: Colm Monahan, Johnny Creaven, Andrew Golding
